8TH WEEK

We want to make a project that respects the existing construction as a preservation of heritage and place of cultural interest. Thats why we have decided to keep on with the idea of rising above the "Cortijo del Fraile" some parts of the program.
We've decided to use CLT (cross-laminated timber) pannels in our project in order to make a fast and light modulated constructions. Our project is going to be based on modular construction, and some parts of the project are going to be risen so that the old parts of the cortijo don't have to be torn down.
The system we will use to make this construction can be found on www.healthwood100.es. It's a enterprise that provides CLT pannels with their own assemblying method and that are prefabricated in the industry.

Click here to see a video with images of the mounting of the pannels.

system it's possible to build a 250 m2 dwelling in 5 days. So taking into account this information we have estimated a total duration of 20 days (nearly 3 weeks) of construction until we finish the site works.
According to the website, using this

This is for example, a house built in 5 days using this system.

They follow 5 different steps to make the prudction of pannels accurate and fast:

                     -Manufacturing the pieces to measure.
                     -Placing the breathable sheet(stapled)
-Placing the timber-fibre made insulation sheet (16 cm)
-Putting SATE system: mortar layer, structural net, second mortar layer and the finish mortar.
-Placing the inner finishing: rastrel columns and placing the gypsum sheet(with installations inside.

Referring to the project, we have already finished with all the program distribution, as well as deciding all the elements and materials that are going to be used in the building. The result of this process is the following.

objectives

- Main target: to propose an adequate, creative, comfortable space by using pre-ensembled elements and an accurate study of the building process.
- To give a brave alternative to the site.
- To propose a sustainable, economical industrialized design.
- To reuse as much as possible the original building, but without being afraid of erasing the elements that don’t provide positive effects to the project.
- The spaces will provide calm and inspiration to its users.
- First ideas for the project:

                - there will be different patios to provide light and spaces for Nature.
                - the building will be light, so  elevating it could be an adequate solution.
      - a broken construction is proposed, so different prisms will configure the program of the project.
      - the spaces will be mobile, so as to make the spaces change depending on the needs.
      - the used materials will be both original traditional ones (wood, stone…) and new ones (steel panels, pladur, glass…) to make the, building comfortable and               more up-to-date. This will create a mixture of textures and sensations..

GANTT DIAGRAM

In the next diagram we will see the developement of the whole project stage by stage.

Red parts refer to getting information.
Blue parts refer to design processes.
Green parts refer to works with the industry, workforces, etc.
Orange parts refer to contact with administration an legal issues.

Using this method we will get to fulfill all the scheduled timetable.
